Method 1: Reinstall Your Realtek HD Audio Drivers

The first method you can try to fix the “OBS not picking up desktop audio” issue is reinstalling your Realtek HD Audio drivers. Here is how to do that:

Step 1: Press Windows + X, and select Device Manager to open Device Manager in Windows 10.

Step 2: Expand Sound, video and game controllers in the list. Right-click Realtek High Definition Audio, and click Uninstall device.

Step 3: Click Delete the driver software for this device option and click the Uninstall button.

Step 4: Then you can click the Action tab and click Scan for hardware changes. Windows will automatically scan and download the Realtek HD Audio driver and reinstall the Realtek HD Audio Manager software.

Method 2: Set the Speakers as the Default Audio Device

The next solution is to set the speakers as the default audio device to fix the “Streamlabs OBS not picking up desktop audio” issue.

Step 1: Right-click the Sound icon and clickthe Sound Control Panel option in Settings.

Step 2: Select Speakers on the Playback tab. Then, select the Set Default option.

Step 3: Click the Apply button.

Step 1: On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen’s bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, do one of the following under Programs.

  • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program.
  • Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.

Step 2: When you find the program Nahimic for MSI, click it, and then do one of the following:

  • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall.
  • Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).

Step 3: Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove Nahimic for MSI.

If you are using Windows 10, you just need to fo to the Settings application to uninstall the software. Now, the “OBS not picking up desktop audio” issue should be fixed.
